Tanzania Police Force
Operations and Training Department
The objective is to provide expertise in the operations and training of police force functions to prepare and implement contingency plans for natural and man-made disasters, disasters and any other public security crisis; To examine short, medium and long-term development programs aimed at curbing crime in a specific unit; development of road traffic enforcement strategies; and implement human resource planning to determine supply and demand for police officers.
Criminal Investigation Department
It aims to provide expertise in the field of criminal investigation, and its tasks are to supervise and coordinate investigations into crimes against persons. Supervising and coordinating investigations into crimes against property; To support the investigation of serious cases whenever needed; Coordinating and supervising the professional investigation of matters relating to fraud, crimes committed through cyberspace, theft, predicate offenses or embezzlement occurring within or against the national and international financial community; Supervising, coordinating and conducting investigations into terrorism, extremism and radicalization crimes.
Criminal Intelligence Office
The objective is to provide expertise in intelligence analysis, and its tasks are to develop and implement strategies to enhance criminal intelligence. planning and managing collection strategies for police integrity; and analysis of intelligence on criminal and integrity cases.
Forensic Investigation Bureau
Aims to provide expertise in cases related to forensic science, and its criminal record keeping functions; To undertake evidence-gathering, preservation and mobilization of physical evidence for scientific analysis and comparison; Conducting analytical analysis and preparing reports.
Community Participation Department
The objective is to involve the community in police activities, and their tasks are to enhance the community’s ability to prevent and solve crime; Conduct daily media analysis and disseminate information to the responsible police; Supervising the establishment of the Gender and Child Affairs Office.
Zanzibar Division
The Zanzibar Police Department will have seven (7) divisions which are: – Operations and Training Division; Criminal Investigation Department; Department of Criminal Intelligence Bureau; Department of Finance and Logistics; Community Participation Department; Department of Administration and Human Resource Management; and forensic sciences.
Department of Finance and Logistics
Aims to provide expertise in financial management and logistics functions for the preparation and planning of internal financial management control systems; To receive, maintain and manage arms, ammunition, supplies and materials for the Police Force; To coordinate the preparation of troop plans (long, medium, and strategic plans and short-term budgets), circulars and projects and to monitor their implementation; To coordinate the allocation and distribution of Force assets; Supervising the preservation of police land and property.
Administration and Human Resource Management
The objective is to provide expertise and services in human resource management and administrative matters, and its functions are to advise on administrative and human resource matters; Provide strategic input on management and human resource management issues such as recruitment, human resource development and training, and promotion. , discipline, retention, motivation, performance management and well-being; To ensure optimal, efficient and effective management and use of human resources in the office; To provide a link between the Office and the Office of the President – Public Service Department on the operationalization of the Public Service Department, employment policy and related public service laws; and to oversee the welfare of employees.
