Kinondoni Municipal Council
Kinondoni Municipal Council is an area in the northwest of the central business district of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the others are Timiki (to the far southeast) and Elala (downtown Dar es Salaam). To the east is the Indian Ocean, and to the north and west is the Bwani region of Tanzania. Kinondoni has an area of 537 square kilometers (207 sq mi).
The Tanzanian national census of 2002 showed that Kinondoni had a population of 1,083,913. The 2012 census showed that the population of Quinondoni was 1,775,049: 914,247 female and 860,802 male. There are 446,504 households in Kinondoni with an average of 4 persons per household.
The original inhabitants of Kinondoni were Zaramo and Ndingiriko, but due to urbanization the area has become multi-ethnic.
