Kiteto District Council
Kiteto District is one of the six districts of the Manyara Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Simanjiro District, to the east by the Tanga Region and to the south and west by the Dodoma Region. The district headquarters are located in Kibaya.
According to the 2002 Tanzania National Census, the population of the Kiteto District was 152,757. According to the 2012 Tanzania National Census, the population of Kiteto District was 244,669.

In 2012, Kiteto District was administratively divided into 19 wards. Since then, new wards have been created and by 2015 the number of wards was 23.
The district covers an area of ​​16,685 square kilometers which is equivalent to 34.1% of the total area of ​​Manyara Region. Kiteto District is located between Longitude 36 ° 15 ’to 37 ° 25’ East and Latitude 40 ° 31 to 6º 03 ‘South.
Kiteto District is bordered by Kondoa District, Dodoma Region while in the north it is bordered by Simanjiro District in Manyara Region, in the East it is bordered by Kilindi District in Tanga Region, South East is bordered by Gairo District which is located in Morogoro Region and South East borders Kongwa and Chamwino Districts which are located in Dodoma Region. Kiteto District Council is one of the six (6) Districts that make up the Manyara Region. It was launched in July 1974 in Arusha Region and later divided in 1993 into two (2) Districts namely Kiteto and Kimanjaro where Manyara Region officially started in July 2002 after being divided from Arusha Region.
Weather
Kiteto District is located at an altitude of between 1000 meters and 1500 meters above sea level, there are two climatic seasons per year which are Masika and Summer. The rains are between December and May and the summer between June and November. The district receives an average rainfall of between 500 mm – 650 mm per year.
