Njombe Town Council is one of the six districts of the Njombe Region of Tanzania, East Africa. The administrative seat for the district is in the city of Njombe.
Njombe Town Council is one of the three (3) Councils that make up Njombe District, the other Councils are Makambako Town and Njombe District Council. This council was established in 2007 after the Njombe District Council was divided. To the east it is bordered by Njombe District Council, to the north it is bordered by Wanging`ombe District Council, to the north it is bordered by Makete and Wanging`ombe District, to the south it is bordered by Ludewa District and Ruvuma Region. Njombe Town Council has an area of 3,212 square meters of area comprising 2 divisions, 13 wards; (3) wards are urban and (10) are rural, 44 villages and 28 localities.
Population
According to the 2012 Population and Housing Census, Njombe Town Council had a population of about 130,223 (Me 61,112 and Ke 69,111). In 2016 the population is estimated at 134, 801 (71,541 Women and 63,260 Men). This is due to an increase in population growth of 0.8 percent per year.
Weather
Overall the climate of Njombe Town Council is good for life and productivity. The rainy season runs from October to April where rainfall reaches between 1200 to 1400 millimeters per year. In addition, some areas receive autumn rains during September. In addition there is a winter period where the temperature drops to (40C) this period starts in May to August; and the summer period (280C) runs from November to March.
