Wanging’ombe District Council is one of the six districts of the Njombe Region of Tanzania, East Africa. The administrative seat is in Igwachanya.
Wanging’ombe District was formally established when it was gazetted in March 2012. It was created out of part of the old Njombe District that had been in Iringa Region.
Wanging’ombe District is one of the districts of Njombe Region. It was established in March 2012 and was previously part of Njombe District. The name Wanging’ombe is derived from the name of the village of Wanging’ombe which is located in Wanging’ombe county. Wanging’ombe District Headquarters is located in Igwachanya village in Igwachanya ward.
Wanging’ombe district covers an area of 3440.54 square kilometers, with a population of 16,1816 according to the 2012 census.
Wanging’ombe District Council consists of 3 Divisions, 21 Wards and 108 Villages.
Due to this ecology the Wanging’ombe residents are engaged in the cultivation of food crops which are maize, sorghum, round potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans, cassava, peanuts, wheat, pulses and peas and commercial crops such as coffee, tea, sunflower, pyrethrum and peanuts as well as animal husbandry. In addition to agricultural activities the cattle herders are also engaged in beekeeping, cattle ranching, goats, poultry as well as small businesses.
