Tanzania Investment Centre(TIC)

Tanzania Investment Centre(TIC), established under the Tanzania Investment Act 1997, is the focal point of all investor inquiries, screens foreign investments, and facilitates project start-ups. TIC has been given the power to manage public-private partnerships (PPPs) for foreign companies under the Public Private Partnership Act 2010 which establishes a framework for build-operate-transfer arrangements with private firms. Registration with TIC is not mandatory, but it does offer incentives for joint ventures with Tanzanians and wholly foreign owned projects over $300,000. The review process takes up to 10 days and involves several government agencies, which are required by law to fully cooperate with TIC in facilitating foreign investment. Projects are not currently being reviewed due to anti-competition concerns. TIC continues to improve investment facilitation services, provide joint venture opportunities between domestic and foreign investors, and disseminate investment information.
