Tanzania Red Cross Society(TRCS)
Established in Tanzania by Parliament Act No. 71 of 1962, the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) is a voluntary, independent humanitarian organization mandated to perform specific voluntary humanitarian roles, both during disasters/emergency situations and in times of peace. The Society has been part of the global network of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies since 1963 when it fulfilled the requirements for membership in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The services and interventions provided by the Tanzania Red Cross Society are based on the risks and vulnerabilities of the country, targeting different vulnerable groups including children, women, chronically ill patients, especially people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans, the elderly and victims of disaster/emergency.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to provide indiscriminate assistance to the wounded on the battlefield, seeks, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace among all people.

There is no discrimination based on nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or opinions. It seeks to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided only by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress.

In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement shall not take sides in hostilities or at any time enter into controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

The movement is independent. National Societies must always maintain their independence so that they can at all times act in accordance with the principles of the Movement, while National Societies are auxiliaries in the human services of their governments and are subject to the laws of their countries.
voluntary service
It is a voluntary relief movement that is not in any way motivated by a desire to earn.
lonliness
There can only be one Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in any country. It should be open to everyone. It must continue its humanitarian work throughout its territory.
International
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping one another, is a global movement.read more
