Established in Tanzania by Parliament Act No. 71 of 1962, the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) is a voluntary, independent humanitarian organization mandated to perform specific voluntary humanitarian roles, both during disasters/emergency situations and in times of peace. There can only be one Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in any country. It should be open to everyone. It must continue its humanitarian work throughout its territory.
