JOBS IN TANZANIA>>>JAMBO FOOD PRODUCTS LIMITED
Jambo Food Products has seen a huge rise in success over the past four years, becoming one of the largest manufacturers of soft drinks, fresh juices, water treatment and bottling in East Africa, headquartered in Shinyanga, Tanzania.
The company is part of the Jumbo Group of Companies Limited, a conglomerate of five independent business entities, including Jumbo Oil Mills & Generators, Jumbo Petroleum Products, Jumbo Spinning Mills, Jumbo Freight Forwarding and of course Jumbo Food Products.
“As one of the leading economic forces in Tanzania, we have significant investments and successful operating companies in all major business sectors,” explains Daoud Hobaya, General Manager of Jumbo Food Products. “We are part of a family owned group, which is run by CEO, Founder and Director, Salloum Khamis Salloum and Co-Manager Suleiman Khamis Salloum. Now their younger brother Mr. Salam has joined the Board of Directors.”
When the group was set up in 1998 by Salloum Khamis Salloum, it set out with humble intentions to operate as a small trading company in the cotton sector, engaging in cotton purchasing and ginning, oil refining and cotton lint exports. However, with rigorous planning and the right team of people at its core, the Jambo Group then expanded the business to a wide range of sectors.
Healthy quality products at reasonable prices
Having been a successful and prosperous company in Shinyanga, Tanzania for many years, Jumbo Group’s transition to food production was a natural step. Initially, its product offering consisted of cooking oil and cottonseed cake for animals, and when it proved particularly popular, the company pooled its resources to formally start the Jambo Food Products arm of the group in 2013.
“Now we include mineral drinking water, fresh juices and soft drinks available in different flavors such as lemon, orange, feto, cola, ginger, cocopene, pineapple, malt products and energy drinks… Jumbo drinks have become one of the most popular beverages in Tanzania, clear signs of quality health products at affordable prices.” . “Since 2013, sales of our food products have grown by 15 percent year on year, and our products are now available in many outlets in Tanzania.”
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its operations to include production of fruit pulp and juice concentrates to stores located within the entire country, bringing production to an estimated 300 metric tons per day.
“In order to achieve this, our transportation needs will increase, requiring a large fleet of trucks for transportation and distribution,” Habiba confirms. “Replacing our existing fleet of Scania, Iveco, Mitsubishi and MAN trucks with new Volvo trucks will enhance and improve product distribution across the country.
“After conducting massive amounts of research, we have come to the conclusion that Volvo is the most reliable, durable and efficient company to carry out our day-to-day business endeavors, and we look forward to making that a reality.”
Implementation of these plans will lead to exciting progress in the next few years, as initial contracts with retail outlets across the country are finalized and potential target markets are identified. The company also hopes to export to partner countries in East Africa and other African countries, truly expanding its target market over the next few years.
pure products
The selection of Jambo Food Products is available throughout Tanzania, and is excitingly looking forward throughout East and Central Africa. Due to the demand for its products, Jumbo has a soft drink and water plant with a production capacity of more than 72,000 bottles every hour.
Hubei concluded, “Our company’s vision of ‘Life in Every Drop’ is the standard that we uphold in all our business, focusing on the goal of having clean and safe drinking water to make our nation healthier.” “By doing so, we have committed to our vision to meet the demand in Tanzania for truly pure and healthy products anywhere, anytime.
“The company firmly believes that every Tanzanian should be given the choice to enjoy high quality, world-class products at affordable Tanzanian prices, making Jambo the popular first choice among other food product companies in East Africa.”
