Agricycle Global
Agricycle is a vertically integrated value chain and network of over 35,000 smallholders from around the world – all making better products for you. Our business structure, impact thesis, and brand architecture are intertwined into a single model.
All parts of the vertically integrated value chain are income-generating and sustainable because of it. Our technologies enable our network that creates value that is brought to global markets.
Each year, 2.8 trillion pounds of food is lost. In sub-Saharan Africa, up to 95 percent of food waste is due to food loss – the phenomenon that occurs when the food produced never reaches the market. Food loss is exacerbated by the lack of preservation technology and the lack of a market. Agricycle handles both.
Agricycle recycles food that would otherwise be wasted to create ethically sourced recycled brands. One brand, Jali Fruit Co, produces its dried fruits naturally from surplus fruit growers who cannot sell them in local markets. The co-ops then use the leftover fruit — such as the peels and pits — to create additional brands to sell, using the whole fruit.
