Kilimanjaro View Point , Arusha
A beautiful picnic site on the slopes of Mount Meru offers amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro from afar, but only on a clear sky day. The most reliable views are those of most of the lowlands in Arusha National Park from a higher elevation, along with the edge of the Ngorodoto crater.
The site is a natural evergreen lawn, half of which is a public camp site, with an entrance road at one end and two concrete benches at the other. In fact, it was designed like campsites, except for the buildings.
What are you doing there?
You can take a walk or drive to the place, have a picnic and watch the animals and enjoy the views. When you’re done, you can also visit the nearby fig tree arch, Maio Falls, or any of the park’s other attractions.
Best time to visit?
Anytime not in the rainy season or during the night. For the latter, TANAPA does not allow moving in the park during the night, while the rainy season will certainly limit any view you might enjoy by visiting the place.
Kilimanjaro Viewpoint (Arusha)
The viewpoint of Kilimanjaro is located on the slopes of Mount Meru, Arusha – Tanzania and also within the Arusha National Park of which the mountain is a part. Found in the early stages of the trek to Maio Falls, the site is located on a plot of land defined as a natural observation deck, jutting out from the mountainside and with a steep hillside on everything but the entrance side. Which makes it one of the rare locations in the mountainous forest area where one can enjoy a 360 degree view of the park, including the summit of Mount Meru.read more
