They are being implemented in all Serena properties across the region.
The Zanzibar Serena Hotel, the antique luxury hotel in Stone Town, is ideally located at the tip of the Shangani Peninsula. Unusually for this compact city, it offers a waterfront pool, 52 rooms, and a rooftop restaurant where you can see sailboats coming into the harbor.
It is located right on the waterfront on the edge of historic Stone Town, which means the hotel can be reached by car at Killele Square. From here it takes a five-minute walk to the Portuguese Castle and Forodhani Gardens and a 10- to 15-minute walk from most other sites. Airport transfer can be arranged upon request

It’s very rare for Stone Town to be the big pool. In addition, there is a waterfront bar, rooftop restaurant, café, souvenir shop, conference center and beauty salon. Island excursions, sailing boat trips, Stone Town walking tours and island hopping can be booked at the travel desk. There is a 24-hour concierge and room service is also available. While the staff here are well trained, the service (especially room service) is a bit slow and lackluster.

There are a total of 51 rooms across the first and second floors. They consist of 41 standard rooms, six larger master rooms with private balconies, four suites with sea view and separate sitting areas. All decorated in faux Swahili style, carved beds covered with mosquito nets, kilim rugs, and brass lamps and lanterns sparkle at night. Air conditioning, TV, minibar and safes come as standard. The bathrooms feature modern appliances, albeit a little outdated.
Baharia Restaurant on the first floor enjoys uninterrupted views of the sea. It serves a buffet breakfast and an evening continental menu featuring fresh fish, traditional curries and rice dishes. Although the buffet is generous, it is below average and the food in general is overpriced. The poolside snacks are the worst, which makes it even better to eat at one of the other waterside restaurants a few minutes walk away.

Double rooms from US$260 (£200) in low season; And from US$300 (£231) in high season. Breakfast included. Free WiFi.
There are rooms on the ground floor but wheelchair users will need personal assistance as they are not specially equipped.
Although there are no specific babysitting facilities, this is a good option for families in Stone Town due to the swimming pool and the hotel’s spacious side layout. Meal and meal times can be adjusted to suit, extra beds can be fitted in the standard rooms, and a babysitting service is available upon request.
