General PC Hardware Troubleshooting
There are a few standard things you should check before your elbows get greasy and end up with screws and computer parts lying on the floor. Review the items in this list first to identify the error.
1. Is it plugged in?
2. Is it online?
3. Is it turned on?
4. Press and hold the Power button for five seconds to turn off any computer.
5. Hot things cause trouble. Ensure that there are no obstructions in the vents on the console and that the fan is on. Touch a power block to make sure it’s not too hot. If it’s hot, unplug it.
6. Check Device Manager for conflicts that Windows has detected.
7. Replace questionable hardware with working hardware to help identify the problem.
8. The printer must be turned on and connected to the Internet or selected before you can print.
