The PNG NRI Diploma in Economic Policy Analysis has been conducted annually since 1989 as a full-time intensive course designed for individuals interested in improving their understanding of key government economic and other public policies affecting sustainable economic growth and development in Papua New Guinea (BNG).
Sakato receives the Dux Award for the Economic Policy Analysis Course (EPAC)
This year (2021), EPAC registered 51 participants (out of 92 applications) for an eight-week period from 06 September to 29 October 2021. 48 participants completed the course. The other three did not complete the course – for various reasons including illnesses.
The performance of the participants at EPAC 2021 was exemplary. We had 4 students with honors. 20 par excellence; 17 with credit; The remaining seven obtained a permit.
The Diploma in Economic Policy Analysis is awarded to the candidate who passes all three components of the assessment: Continuous Assessment, Final Examination and Policy Research Paper which are respectively weighted 30%, 30% and 40% to calculate the final score of the candidates.
The top-performing student, Mr. Francis Sakato, who works as an analyst with the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) received an excellent grade with 89.7% becoming Dux of the Year.
Mr. Sakato received a commemorative award from the Papua New Guinea Chamber of Mines and Petroleum. The NRI Board of Directors and staff thank the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum for the award donation.
