The series reached #1 in 76 countries on Netflix. In January 2021, the series was renewed for a second season, with a premiere scheduled for March 25, 2022. In April 2021, creator Van Dusen revealed on Twitter that the series had been further renewed for seasons three and four.

Filming for the second season began in the spring of 2021, but had to stop in mid-July following the outbreak of COVID-19. Filming resumed in mid-August, with showrunner Chris Van Dousen confirming that at least the first two episodes were in post-production in the meantime. While fans were hoping for Christmas 2021 — a year after the first season was released — Netflix revealed in September 2021 that the second season wouldn’t release until 2022.
