ChildFund Kenya is recruiting a Communications Intern as explained below:
Duties and Responsibilities
The communications intern will be seated in the Child Fund Kenya country office and will work with the communications specialist. The candidate is expected to:
- Contribute to the implementation of the communications strategy in line with the organization’s mission, key messages, key results, and area of excellence.
- Develop written stories, photos, and videos to support visibility, fundraising, public relations, advocacy, and sponsorship sponsorships at international and national levels.
- In coordination with other departments in the country office and local partners, prepare and distribute information, education and communications materials to target audiences.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly regulatory reports.
- During emergency response, work closely with the National Emergency Response Team and implement a communications plan targeting key stakeholders.
- Assist in the coordination and logistical preparation of events.
- Identify and use media opportunities to promote ChildFund programs and help deal with news media inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Capture and edit photos and videos of programs and events and upload them to ChildFund media bank
- Develop the content of ChildFund’s social media accounts and update these platforms.

Qualifications and experience
- Experience in writing, editing and producing materials for website content.
- Possess or pursue a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications or a related field. If pursuing, the applicant must be in the third or final year of study.

Competencies:
- Experience with content management systems and tools.
- Working knowledge of photo editing and video production software.
- Ability to communicate simply, clearly and effectively with excellent writing and editing skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office business application software.

- Team player.
