NIT Entry Requirements 2022-2023 are formal criteria you must meet in order to be considered for a degree course you are applying to at the National Institute of Transportation (NIT).
Below are the entry requirements for the National Institute of Transportation, every prospective student of the National Institute of Transportation is advised to read the entry requirements before applying for admission into any academic program available at NIT for the academic year 2022/2023.
Admission requirements for certificate and diploma
Ordinary Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes excluding religious subjects, or
- form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field.
Ordinary Diploma in Clearing and Shipping Goods
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes excluding religious subjects, or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field.

Ordinary Diploma in Purchasing and Logistics Management
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes excluding religious subjects, or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field.
Ordinary Diploma in Human Resource Management
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes excluding religious subjects, or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field.
Ordinary Diploma in Marketing and Public Relations
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes excluding religious subjects, or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field.
Ordinary Diploma in Business Administration
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes including passing in Basic Mathematics; or
- Form VI with one major pass and one minor pass in Combined Science subjects plus success in Basic Mathematics and English in the fourth form; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field (2 years)
Ordinary Diploma in Accounting and Transportation Finance
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passes including passing in Basic Mathematics; or
- Form VI with one major pass and one minor pass in Combined Science subjects plus success in Basic Mathematics and English in the fourth form; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field (2 years)

Ordinary Diploma in Computers and Information Technology
Admission requirements
- Form form with at least four (4) passes including passing in Basic Mathematics and English Language; or
- Form VI with one major pass and one minor pass in Combined Science subjects plus success in Basic Mathematics and English in the fourth form; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field (2 years)
Ordinary Diploma in Automotive Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form form with at least four (4) credits including passes in Basic Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and English Language; or
- Form VI with at least one major statement and one sub-pass for science group subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field. (Two years)
Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) credits including passes in Basic Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and English Language; or
- Form VI with at least one major statement and one sub-pass for science group subjects, or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field. (Two years)

Ordinary Diploma in Automotive Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passes of grades “D” in Physics or Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language, or
- Form Four with pass grade “D” at least in two subjects mentioned above which must include Basic
- Mathematics and National Professional Award Level 3 in Automotive – Electrical & Electronics
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in a related field recognized by NACTE
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE
Ordinary Diploma in Electronics and Communications Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passes of grades “D” in Physics or Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language, or
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in a related field recognized by NACTE; or
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE (2 years)
Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passes of grades “D” in Physics or Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language, or
- Form VI with at least one major pass and one minor pass for science block subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in a related field recognized by NACTE; or
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE

Ordinary Diploma in Piping Works and Oil and Gas Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passes of grades “D” in Physics or Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language, or
- Form VI with at least one major pass and one minor pass for science block subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and geography, or
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in Piping Works, Oil and Gas Engineering Field: OR
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Piping Works, Oil and Gas Engineering Field
Ordinary Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) credits including passes in Basic Mathematics, Physics/Engineering Science and English Language, or
- Form VI with at least one major pass and one minor pass for mixed subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Advanced Mathematics, or
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
Ordinary Diploma in Library Information Studies
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passages excluding religious subjects; or
- Form Sixth with at least one major pass and one minor pass in mixed subjects; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) certification in a related field.
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE (2 years)

Ordinary Diploma in Records, Archives and Information Studies
Admission requirements
- Form four with at least four (4) passages excluding religious subjects; or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field.
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE (2 years)
Ordinary Diploma in Shipbuilding and Repair
Admission requirements
- Form Four with a minimum of four (4) grades of “D” in Physics/Engineering Science, Basic Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language; or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects, or
- A Level 3 National Professional Award (NVA) in an engineering-related field such as Mechanics/Electrical Vehicles plus a pass in Mathematics at the ‘O’ Level
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in shipbuilding and repair or a related field recognized by NACTE; or (two years)
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5)
- In shipbuilding and repair or a related field recognized by NACTE (2 years)
Ordinary Diploma in Maritime Transport Operations and Port Logistics
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passages excluding religious subjects; or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) degree in a related field; or (two years)
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE (2 years)
Ordinary Diploma in Road and Railway Logistics
Admission requirements
- Form Four with at least four (4) passages excluding religious subjects; or
- Form Sixth with one main pass and one sub-pass in mixed subjects; or
- Basic Technician (NTA Level 4) Certificate in a related field or (two years)
- Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in a related field recognized by NACTE (2 years)

Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Transportation Management (BLTM)
Admission requirements
- Form VI with two (2) major passage excluding religious subjects with a total of 4.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6 or non-NTA) in the relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma in Teacher Education with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 points or a grade point average of B plus four (4) passes in Form IV excluding religious subjects, or
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with a grade point average of C.
Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Logistics Management (BPLM)
Admission requirements
- Form VI with two (2) major passage excluding religious subjects with a total of 4.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6 or non-NTA) in the relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma in Teacher Education with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 points or a grade point average of B plus four (4) passes in Form IV excluding religious subjects, or
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with a grade point average of C.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management (BHRM)
Admission requirements
- Form VI with two (2) major passage excluding religious subjects with a total of 4.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6 or non-NTA) in the relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma in Teacher Education with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 points or a grade point average of B plus four (4) passes in the previous Form Four excluding religious subjects, OR
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with an average of a C grade.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Public Relations

Admission requirements
- Form Sixth with two (2) major passage excluding religious subjects with a total of 4.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6 or non-NTA) in the relevant field with a GPA of at least 3.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma in Teacher Education with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 points or a grade point average of B plus four (4) passes in Form IV including passing in Mathematics excluding religious subjects, or
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with a grade point average of C.
Bachelor’s Degree in Education with Mathematics and Information Technology (BEMIT)
Admission requirements
- Form Sixth with two (2) major passes, one of which must be in Advanced Mathematics with a total of 4.0 points and must exclude religious subjects, plus four (4) passes in Fourth Form with at least a pass in Core Mathematics, or
- Ordinary Diploma in Teacher Education (NTA Level 6) with a GPA of at least 3.0 points or a grade of B with Mathematics as one of the teaching subjects
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (BIT)
Admission requirements
- Two (2) major passes in Form VI in any subjects other than religious subjects with a total of at least 4.0 points, or
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in an ICT related field with a GPA of at least 3.0 points plus four (4) passes in Form IV including passing in Basic Mathematics and English Language
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (BCS)
Admission requirements
- Form Sixth with two (2) major passes with at least 4.0 points in science subjects in Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Engineering Sciences, Chemistry, Biology or Economics including success in Basic Mathematics, Physics and English in Fourth Form excluding subjects Religious themes, or
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in a related field, such as Physics and Information Technology with a GPA of at least 3.0 points plus four (4) passes in Fourth Form

Admission requirements
- Form Sixth with two (2) major passes in science subjects such as advanced mathematics, physics or chemistry with a total of 4.0 points including four passes in the fourth form with at least a pass in basic mathematics, physics/engineering sciences and English language excluding religious subjects, or (4 Years)
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Automotive Engineering / Mechanical / Electrical / Naval Engineering or
- Technical Education with a GPA of 3.0 points and four (4) passes in Form IV excluding religious subjects. , or
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Automotive/Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering with a grade point average of C
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BME)

Admission requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Transport Management, or equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of upper second class.
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least a second class degree will be considered if applications hold another Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field of study.
MBA in Logistics and Transportation Management
Admission requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Transport Management, or equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of upper second class.
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least a second class degree will be considered if applications hold another Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field of study.
