Morogoro Municipal Council is one of the six districts of the Morogoro Region of Tanzania. It contains the city Morogoro, capital of the Morogoro Region, and no villages. Morogoro Urban District covers 260 square kilometres (100 sq mi). It is bordered to the east and south by the Morogoro Rural District and to the north and west by Mvomero District
Location:
Morogoro Municipality is located 195 km from Dar es Salaam City. It is located between Latitude 4.5 South and Longitude 37.4 East. It is approximately 1,600 feet above sea level. The municipality borders the Uluguru Mountains to the South and the Mindu Mountains to the West. On the north it borders Mvomero District and Morogoro on the East.

The Municipal Council has an area of 531.04 Square Kilometers equivalent to 0.8 percent of Morogoro Region with an area of 72,939 Square Kilometers.
Weather
The average temperature is 100C to 140C in winter (June – August) and summer (November – December) between 280C and 300C. There are two rainy seasons: autumn rains and monsoon rains. The rainfall averages between 821 and 1,505 millimeters.
Population
Morogoro Municipality has been expanding rapidly due to population growth. According to the 2002 Population and Housing Census, the population has grown from 24,999 in 1967 to 227,921 in 2002. The average annual population increase is 4.7 percent. According to the 2012 Population and Housing Census, Morogoro Municipal Council has a population of 315,866, including 151,700 men and 164,166 women.
