Magu District Council-Mwanza, Tanzania

Magu District Council is one of the seven districts of the Mwanza Region of Tanzania, East Africa. Its administrative centre is the town of Magu on the Simiyu River. It is bordered to the north by Lake Victoria and Busega District, to the east by Bariadi District, to the south by Itilima District, Maswa District, Kwimba District and Misungwi District, and to the west by the city of Mwanza, which consists of Nyamagana District and Ilemela District.
Magu District is one of the 8 districts that make up Mwanza Region. The district was established in 1974 after being divided from Kwimba District. The district to the North is bordered. Ukerewe District, East District Busega District is located in Simiyu Region. On the South East, it borders Bariadi District, on the South it borders Kwimba District and on the West it borders Ilemela District
Area Size:
Magu District covers 2,671 square kilometers. Of these 1,551 square kilometers are water and 1,120 kilometers are land.

The district has one Constituency Division 4 Divisions 25 counties, 82 villages and 508 suburbs.
Weather:
The climate in the district is below average, with autumn rains beginning in October and December and monsoon rains starting in March to May. In the agricultural season 2012/13 recorded rainfall is 950.4 mm for 240 days compared to 323.7 mm recorded rainfall for 194 days in 2011/12 where on average, the average annual rainfall is 700 mm to 1000 mm.
Population:
According to the 2012 homeless census, Magu District has a total population of 299,759, of which 146,461 are males and 153,298 are females. The population is growing at a rate of 2 percent per year and the population density per square kilometer is a ratio of 1: 112.
