Liganga Iron Ore Project
Liganga iron ore is located in Ludewa District of Njombe District, 900 km southwest of Dar es Salaam.
The project is one of the largest iron ore resources identified in the country and is estimated to have reserves in excess of 1.2 billion tons. The type of iron ore deposit found in Liganga is known as Vanado-titanium magnetite. Iron ore is a resource for the steelmaking and other iron industries.
The project will be the basis for the construction of an iron and steel mineral complex which in turn will create hundreds of jobs.
