The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) is Tanzania’s national oil company through which the Ministry of Energy implements petroleum exploration and development policies. TPDC has a workforce of around 400 and is organized into six (6) directorates and four (4) units, namely: Exploration and Production Development Directorate, Oil and Gas Business Directorate, Planning and Investment Directorate, Finance and Administration Directorate, Legal Services Department, Internal Audit Department, ICT and Statistics Unit, Procurement Management Unit, Public Relations and Communication Unit and Risk Management Unit. TPDC was incorporated by Government Notice No. 140 issued on May 30, 1969 under the Public Companies Law No. 17 of 1969. The company commenced operations in 1973. TPDC is a wholly owned quasi-government corporation, in which all of its shares are held by a Treasurer Registrar.
