Myth #1: You’ll get big unless you lift lighter weights.
Fact: The only way your muscles will explode in your layers is if you regularly lift heavy, repetitive weights – and if you have the type of body that will allow you to grow massive muscles.
Myth #2: You’re the only one in the gym who gets distracted by equipment.
Fact: No one was born knowing how to operate an assistive dipping machine or perform the incline breastfly! Weight training equipment can baffle even the sharpest minds.
Myth #3: Lifting weights is dangerous.
Fact: If Justin Bieber tried to lift a 100kg iron bar, it would be dangerous. But if you use good technique and common sense, you will likely stay away from injuries.
Myth 4: Thigh exercises will slim your thighs, and abdominal exercises will slim your waist.
Fact: You cannot melt fat from any particular part of the body by performing exercises that target that area. There is simply no such thing as spot reduction.
Myth 5: Lifting weights will not help you lose weight.
Fact: Weightlifting is an essential part of a weight loss program. Building muscle is the only way to increase your metabolism, which can help you lose and maintain fat.
Myth 6: Free weights are for heads and machines for beginners.
Fact: The empty weight room in the gym is not a private bodybuilding club; Beginners are welcome there and should take care to learn to use dumbbells and a barbell.
