Following a Pregame Routine with Your Junior Football Team
A good pre-match routine helps set the tone for a safe and fun-filled football day. Keep these tips in mind before you start the game.
- Check the playground for loose rocks, broken glass, raised sprinkler heads, or anything else that could injure the child.
- Check that all children bring appropriate equipment.
- Ask the children to warm up. Keep the exercises light, cover all muscle groups that will be used in the game, and include a large number of soccer skills to properly prepare the kids for the game.
- Give the children a break to use the toilet before the game begins.
- Offer encouraging words and pats on the back to boost children’s confidence and boost their self-esteem.
