Add the cost of digital cameras, hardware and software

Prices for digital cameras vary greatly depending on the type and quality of the camera you buy. The hardware you use with your digital camera — such as a memory card — goes into the costs of digital photography, as well as the software you use to work with your photos. Here are the different costs of moving to the digital world:
>> Cameras: Digital cameras range from inexpensive Point-and-shot models for casual users to $1,500 and up models that offer high-quality photographic controls (see this figure). You can get a naked camera (with low resolution and few features) for less than $40.
Expect to spend $70 and up on a camera that can produce high-quality prints and includes the features you want.

>> Memory Cards: You can buy a 2GB memory card for about $30. And you can reuse the memory cards as many times as you like.
>> Computer: If you don’t already have a computer that allows you to view, store, edit, and print photos, expect to spend at least $400 on one.
>> Printer: The printer costs between $80 and $700, but you don’t have to buy at the highest end of this spectrum to get good print quality. Higher priced models offer faster production and additional features.
>> Software: You need to get photo editing software if you want to edit your digital photos, which can range from x to x.
