Prepare for the physical exam for the police exam
Police work is physical work that requires strength, endurance and flexibility, which is why a physical ability test is part of the hiring process. Use the following tips to stay fit for a physical exam:
- Make it routine. It’s easy for life to get in the way and ruin your fitness goals, so try to incorporate exercise into your daily schedule.
- Do not get bored. Doing the same exercise over and over again will tire you out quickly, so switch it up. Instead of running on a racetrack, play soccer or go for a bike ride.
- Get your heart rate up. Being able to run fast and run long distances takes time. You cannot do this a week or two before the test. Incorporate vigorous cardiovascular exercise into your exercise routine.
- Practice with a friend. It’s fun to exercise with friends. You can talk, laugh and catch up while motivating each other to keep moving.
- Eat healthy foods. Make sure to eat plenty of lean protein and vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables. These foods give you the energy you need to exercise every day.
- Drink a lot of water. When you exercise, you lose a lot of water through sweat. In addition, water cleanses the body of toxins. So stay hydrated!
- Get plenty of rest. You need rest to give your body time to repair itself. Doctors recommend sleeping seven to nine hours each night.
