Shooting in Sports Mode on the Rebel T6i/750D

The Sport mode on the Rebel T6i/750D produces a number of settings that can help you shoot moving subjects, like a soccer player in this shape. First, the camera sets a fast shutter speed, which is necessary to stop motion. Shutter speed is an exposure control.
Colour, sharpness, and contrast are all standard in Sport mode, with none of the adjustments occurring in portrait and landscape modes.
Other settings to note include:

  • Driving mode: To enable shooting at speed of shooting, the driving mode is set to “continuous” by default. This mode allows you to record multiple frames with a single press of the shutter button.

  • Flash: The flash is disabled, which can be a problem in low light situations but also enables you to shoot more quickly because the flash needs time to recycle between shots. In addition, disabling the flash enables a faster shutter speed; When the flash is on, the maximum shutter speed is 1/200 seconds, which may not be fast enough to freeze fast moving subjects.

  • Autofocus: Autofocus mode is set to AI Servo, designed for moving subjects. When you press the shutter button halfway, the camera creates focus on whatever is in the center of the frame. But if the subject moves, the camera tries to refocus until the moment you take the photo. For this feature to work properly, you must adjust the frame so that your subject remains within the AF brackets.

If you are using Live View, it is necessary to have continuous AF enabled. Otherwise, you have to focus manually when shooting action
For this feature to work properly, you must adjust the frame so that your subject remains within the AF brackets.
The other important thing to understand about sports mode is that whether the camera can determine the shutter speed fast enough to stop motion depends on the available light and the speed of the subject itself. In low light, a subject moving at a fast pace may appear blurry even when photographed in Sports mode. And the camera may need to increase light sensitivity by boosting the ISO setting, which has the unhappy side effect of creating noise, a flaw that looks like grains of sand.
