NSFAS Application Closing Date For 2022;- NSFAS was incorporated under the National Student Financial Assistance Scheme Act (Act 56 of 1999) and incorporated the TEFSA (South African Higher Education Fund). From 1993 to 2000, TEFSA was the principal non-profit corporation under Section 21 of the Companies Act and ceased operations in July 2000. All loans on the books of TEFSA were transferred to NSFAS.
The NSFAS Act enables any applicant to apply for an NSFAS grant but allows the Board of Directors to impose conditions, in general, or in connection with a particular loan or grant. These conditions include using the means test and transferring a loan of up to 40 percent of any loan as an incentive for academic success.

When to Apply
The NSFAS application for 2022 will open on November 2 and end on January 21, 2022. There will be no late application for NSFAS funding in 2022 so applicants are advised to submit their online application in time before the deadline.
Who qualifies for NSFAS funding 2022?
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

The registered students can access their MyNSFAS account by following these steps:
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on MyNSFAS Account.
- Input your username and password.
- Login to MyNSFAS account.
