NSFAS covers the cost of registration, tuition and learning materials. They also provide meals and transportation allowance for students.

While thousands of students were approved for NSFAS funding, others were denied and were able to appeal their application results.

Many students wondered why their funding status had not changed after submitting all relevant documents with their appeal. In response, the scholarship scheme indicated that applicants’ funding status would not change immediately after the appeal was submitted.

NSFAS reported:

You are not funded by NSFAS yet. You will only appear on the funded list if your funding or appeal is approved. You will need to wait until the outcome of your appeal is reached.
The scholarship also advised applicants to regularly monitor the myNSFAS portal to check if their funding status has changed.

Those with unsuccessful applications should note that they only have 30 days to appeal a denial upon receiving the outcome of their funding application.

NSFAS explained: “Students wishing to appeal must upload all supporting documents required to establish grounds for appeal. The appeal must be submitted within 30 days of being assessed as unsuccessful.
